cast acrylic necklaces
This work is predominantly influenced by my studies, which are largely computer based and are following the current wave of digital generic design and fabrication, modern youth culture and contemporary street art.
I designed these digitally fabricated necklaces during my spare time at university. Using architectural programs I am able to draw the images digitally. The files and cast acrylic (Perspex) are then sent to the lazer cutter. This material was chosen for its 'meaningless' characteristics and qualities (as opposed to timber with references to the earth) to ensure that only the symbol is read into. What do they mean?
These necklaces supported an exhibition called 'Audition' in Satellite Gallery, Auckland. You can visit the galleries home page here: Satellite Gallery
These are currently for sale, please email me with queries.
